36th INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Bucaplaa 45, Homewood 42
Bucaplaa rebounded from a nine-point second-quarter deficit and blocked a late three-point attempt to win its second International championship. Carlos Albertori led Bucaplaa (25-1) with 15 points, while Carlos Soto added 11 points and Luis Jimenez nine. Bucaplaa also won the crown in 1986 and fell in last year’s title contest to St. Rocco.
Homewood (23-2), which cut a six-point lead to two in the final minute, was led by its all-time leading scorer Donell Cooper with 13 points. Roosevelt Green added 10 points and Mike Fitzgerald nine, but the Vikings missed nine free throws.
36th INTERNATIONAL THIRD-PLACE GAME
St. Rocco 40, Chicago And One 28
St. Rocco limited And One to just seven minutes in the middle quarters en route to a third-place finish in International play. Justin Umpierre led St. Rocco with 11 points, while Lamont Bonner added nine.
Chicago And One got six three-pointers from Ahmad Starks for a game-high 19.
16th FRIENDSHIP CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Lib Mickey 51, Bucaplaa B 20
Lib Mickey outscored Bucaplaa B in every quarter, including a 15-8 margin to open the contest en route the Friendship crown. Ernesto Rodriguez scored 17 and Hamilton Santos to lead Mickey, while Rolando Almesto scored eight for Bucalplaa.
16th FRIENDSHIP THIRD-PLACE GAME
Santurce, PR 47, Newark PAL 36
Carlos Alfonzo scored 12 points to pace Santurce to third place, as the winners led all the way after a 14-3 first-quarter lead. Jonathan Garcia added 12 points for the winners, while Ahmed Ramirez clicked for nine points.
PAL was topped by Dion Nesmith with 12 points and JaJa Pasahall added seven markers.
